FAQ

Are there any requirements to be a handyman?

In most states, you won't need a license to become an independent contractor (as opposed to a salaried employee). You must still meet certain requirements.

  • Must be at least 18
  • Do you have a high-school diploma or GED?
  • A four-week course in a vocational school.

Is it worth paying more for professional handyman service?

It all depends on the type project that you wish to have completed. For complex projects, such as an office renovation or construction project, a professional handyman would be a great option.

What happens when a handyman causes injury and I am not satisfied with his work.

You must immediately notify the manager if anything goes wrong during the project. It is best to note down what happened and attach photos. Contact your insurance company to file a claim.

Do I need a handyman trained to do my work

No. Handymen are already skilled and have the knowledge to tackle any job. All you need to do is give them the materials to complete the job.

How To

How do I replace a cracked window?

It is one of the most commonly performed home improvements. This involves fixing any damage caused by the glass. In this case, the repair work should only take around 30 minutes. If you don't know how to replace broken glass, you could cause more damage to your home. This article will give you some helpful tips for replacing broken windows.

First, remove the old glass from its frame

To take out the old glass, first remove the screws that hold it in place. Next, take out the lock at top center of the window frame's bottom section. Next, pull the window up slightly so it's no longer attached to the sill plate (the metal bar below the floor). The last step is to gently loosen all remaining screws with a tool. After the panes are taken off, thoroughly clean them.

Next step: Clean the glass

Use a dry cloth or paper towel to wipe away any dirt from the surface of the glass. If debris is stuck under the glass, try cleaning it with a spray bottle filled with water and rubbing alcohol.

Third Step: Reinstall the replacement glass

Reattach the window panels to the frames. Start by pushing down on the lower edge of the outermost pane with the tip of a screwdriver. Gently push down on the lower edge of the outermost pane with the tip of a screwdriver. Then move to the next pane, pushing it firmly against the previous pane before reattaching it. Continue inserting the panes until the entire window is assembled. You can seal the spaces where the panes meet using a silicone caulk pistol.

Fourth step: Repair the damage

If you are installing new glass, be sure to inspect the area where the break occurred. This will help determine if further repairs are necessary. Inspect the area around the window for cracks near the corners. If so, add two small pieces wood to each side. These wooden blocks will strengthen the window while acting as spacers for the glass during expansion and contraction of the weatherproofing.

Fourth step: Sealing the area

Apply silicone caulking around the edges of the frame after the glass has been replaced. This will create an excellent seal between the glass & the surrounding wallboard. Silicone caulking is available at hardware stores as well as online. You should choose a color to match the wall paint.

Allow the caulking time to dry overnight. After the caulking has dried completely, do not disturb it. If you don't wait enough, the caulking could crack when you take it off.
